Neck guards to be made mandatory in English ice hockey after Adam Johnson’s death

The English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) has announced that neck guards will be made mandatory during “all on-ice activities” from 2024.

This announcement comes after the death of Nottingham Panthers player, Adam Johnson, who died after suffering a severe cut to the neck from the blade of a skate during a match against Sheffield Steelers.

Investigations into the incident have revealed that Johnson was not wearing a neck guard.

Sheffield United pay tribute to victims in Israel and Gaza at football match

Rivalries were put aside on Saturday at Bramall Lane, as Sheffield United and Manchester United came together to pay their respects to the innocent victims of the crisis in Israel and Gaza.

A touching moment of silence was observed before the match began, and was well received by the usually rapturous fans.

Players, managers, and match officials also donned black armbands as part of the tribute.
